The Task Master

I'm not sure what drove me to have Brooklynn complete 12 language arts lessons today or to have Jeffrey do 3 math lessons and a unit test. Maybe it was their whining that their work is too easy? Maybe it's the way K12 has set up their website? Their feedback with charts and numbers, the 'percentage complete' page (Brooklynn is 33% done with her language arts) and 'projected end date' calculation button ( all courses will be completed by May 6) keep me plowing through the workload. My brain is swimming in circles and it hurts- just like during finals week in college.

Brooklynn has a few math problems left, and we haven't started history. I'm ready to wrap up and call it a day. Tomorrow we'll stick the to plan- one lesson per subject!

We did K12 in Kansas. How do you like it? It seems like it would be way different than what you were doing, but maybe I'm wrong.

We were following "A Well Trained Mind (WTM)." This is similar, but with no prep work :) I was needing a break after all of our sicknesses last year. I was looking into K12 when we lived in Omaha, but there weren't any charter schools that offered it.

I really like the K12 language arts program. Math, history, and art are okay. The charter school we are going through also offers "Signing Time" which the kids love.

It's been great going through the charter. They have quit a few field trips and activities that we show up to (yeah, no work for me!) Our charter also allows you to take as many or as few classes from them. They are also starting classes once a week online to help the kids get ready for testing at the end of the year.
Next year, I think we'll stick with K12 language arts, math, foreign language, and art, but go back to WTM for history and science.
