Mark found this clip on youtube that has been making me laugh the last few nights. Just what I need to calm life's stresses. I know we've all felt the same way before, although I am sure we stay in control a little better! My favorite is the paper airplane clip. Hope you enjoy.

Aunt Rach comes for a visit
My sister, Rachel, came for a visit the first few days of this week!

Besides giving excellent back, neck, and shoulder massages, one of Rachel's talents is reading to Jeffrey and Brooklynn and keeping them happy. This is very handy because we've been stuck inside due to the poor air quality (smoke from the wildfires has made the sky and air hazy). Malia enjoys snuggling with her.
We had a few ice cream socials in Rachel's honor and invited Nathan and Diana's family. Thanks for the visit Rach!
Prior to making a stop at our house she was visiting Emily's family and meeting baby Emma. We'll call this trip the 'Baby Fix.' Come again whenever you want!

Mud Cake anyone?
Jeffrey and Brooklynn have been trying really hard to stay out of trouble while I have needed to spend a little time here and there with Malia. Their latest is to make mud cakes. First they stack all of the bricks that bordered the garden and the lawn.
Next they flood the garden and make mud.
Once the bricks are stacked and the mud is ready the cover the tower in mud. Yum, chocolate cake! Anybody want some?

Time Flies!
These last four weeks have flown by. Maybe we're having too much fun with our all night parties (feedings) followed by drowsy days! I was pleased to wake up this morning and realize that Malia had slept for 6 consecutive hours! Yes!!

Jeffrey and Brooklynn have made the adjustment well. They enjoy taking turns feeding, burping, holding, and singing to her.
It would be safe to say that she runs the house. We are all smitten by her and jump whenever she moves or makes a sound.
Jeffrey's comment sums it up, "Mom, I think our baby gets cuter everyday."
Happy 6th Birthday Jeffrey!
Jeffrey had a birthday and we celebrated 2 weeks late, but atleast we had a family get together. Most important for him this year was making sure he had a candle with the number "6" on it.

He received several soccer themed presents and...

a stack of 'George Washingtons.'

He loves money. He sold 2 shelves worth of toys- cars and robots- to Brooklynn. I think he only stopped putting his toys up for sale when he realized he had already sucked her bank dry. Time to find some new customers!

California's 'Rules' As I Understand Them
To change a name of a child under the age of 18:
1. Fill out a few forms and submit paper work to the local superior court
2. Run an ad in the paper for 4 consecutive weeks stating intent to change names and allow the public to protest
3. If no one protests by 2 days before the court date you do not have to appear and change of name request is granted
4. Contact County Records for a new birth certificate
5. Contact Social Security Office for new card
So far, I'm still on step 1. Maybe tomorrow I'll call the county office and make sure the rules apply to a 13 day old:) Hopefully there is a grace period.

A Change of Names
We are changing the baby's name. I tried Madelynn Malia, our two favorite names, hoping it would grow on me. It never did. So, we went back to the drawing board. We decided on Malia and have had a few different middle names. We've finally chosen
Malia Mae.
Hopefully this will be the last time we change it! This entire naming process has been more difficult for us than we anticipated. Thank you for all of your comments and suggestions!

Now we just need to have the birth certificate and social security card changed. I'll let you all know how that goes.
