We made it!

Thursday afternoon, we loaded into the 'family fun mobile' and Mark made one last stop by his work. We drove to Beckley, WV and stopped for the night at a Hampton Inn. We had told the kids they could go swimming, and it was our bribe for the first leg of the journey, but the pool was outside. Too cold.

We woke up the next morning, crossed the "Maury River", passed through Charelston, WV, and crossed the Ohio River. We were in West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. We rested our heads at a Hampton Inn outside of St. Louis, MO. We dined at the Olive Garden and took the kids swimming a few times in the indoor pool.

After crossing the Missisippi River and seeing the St. Louis Arch Saturday morning, we moseyed our way to the Kansas City area. Snow and ice covered the state maintained roads and we were almost in an accident. A car, just ahead of us decided to come into our lane and slow down. There were no other cars in sight. They must not have seen us. Anyways, we had no time to stop. For a second I was awaiting sounds of clashing metal, but Mark swerved, we slid a bit, and were okay. A clap award to Mark for his great defensive driving skills! We decided to call it a day of traveling and stopped at the next town.

It was the same town we had stopped in moving to VA. So, we stayed at the same hotel with the water slide. Yes, it was about 10 degrees outside and we were playing in the water!

Sunday, we loaded up and drove until we reached our destination. Busy day. We realized that Mark didn't have work shoes for the next day. We spent a few evening hours shopping, finding his new place of employment, going to dinner, and getting a hotel. Of course, an evening swim for the kids for their good behavior:) The temperature: a chilly 17 degrees!! Burrrrrrrrrrrr!
