Easter Sunday

Sometimes the kids just won't cooperate for a nice photo. This Easter was just one of those days. I tried at home, and then again at church. They thought it funny to just keep running in circles. This is the only photo where I was able to get both of them in the frame at the same time. Notice Brooklynn's shoes- her slippers. I was just glad that she actually wore a dress and would let me comb her hair this year (last year she went in dirty shorts, dirty shirt, no shoes or socks, and uncombed hair...)

Pre-Easter Festivities

The kids are so lucky to have an Easter Bunny hook-up!! Every year we go to Mom's work to have an Easter egg hunt and take pictures with the Easter Bunny. Brooklynn always looks forward to getting a picture- but this year she noticed that it wasn't the REAL Easter Bunny. She could see someone's face behind the mask. So, she wants to make sure Grandma gets the REAL DEAL next year!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah Relief!!

When I was pregnant with Brooklynn, we were in a car accident. I ended up going to physical therapy several times and would feel good for about an hour. So, now that I'm pregnant again, my back has started feeling the same. Oh no. I thought I would try something new- a chiropractor. Never been to one before. I met one a few years ago and she specializes in women and infants. So, I gave her a call last week and she got me right in.

I didn't know what to expect, but was willing to give anything a whirl for some lower back relief. (I figured it would be nice to walk down the hall in the morning without limping and whincing!) I did not realize that she was going to use by body as a lever to pop different joints- but not a problem. She popped my hips, neck, and mid-back. I left her office feeling good! And, the next morning when I woke up I felt like a million bucks!!! Not sore, not stiff, not limping, not in pain! My back hasn't felt this good since high school! I am a true believer:) Set me up another appointment!

Bargain Mania

Yesterday I was out running errands when I came across a thrift store. I thought it wouldn't hurt to stop in and see if they sell books. What a suprise and shock when I discovered their children's books 3 for 99 cents!!!! I bought some Winnie the Pooh books in color, Black Beauty, The Prince and the Pauper, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Holes, Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, some more Little House books, Trumpet of the Swan, Great Expectations, etc. Twenty-four quality books for a mere 8 bucks!!!! I also found a Thorton Burgess book, "The Adventures of Poor Mrs. Quack". Thirty-three cents of reading enjoyment! We have enjoyed reading some of his other books out loud this year!

I was so excited about my library building that I ran across town to another thrift store that sells books. I purchased several more classics for under $9.

Popcorn Popping

The kids have started a new spring tradition. When they see a tree in bloom they sing the popcorn song until they have passed it and the song suddenly stops. It starts up again when they see another blooming tree. We pass by several orchards on the way to Mark's work with different colors of white and pink blossoms. They have had lots of chances to perfect their game. The game will soon be over as the blooms are are beginning to fall and the leaves appear in their places.

The Root View Farm

The kids planted a root view farm and are anxious to see the seeds sprout and watch them grow! The tiny plants have broken through the soil. Now, we'll wait and see which one will develop the longest roots- onions, turnips, or carrots.

Park Days

The weather has been so nice the last few days that it has been hard to get much official homeschool work done. Instead we have been playing at the park: bird watching, collecting acorns, feeding ducks, climbing trees, and then coming home and reading books about nature.

Welcome to the 21st Century

We have officially thrown ourselves into the 21st century! DSL, digital camera, and now a blog. I know, I know it took us a little while, but here we are.
